A General Overview of Illunum So Far
If we're doing a set about night and day then astrology just has to be integral to the plane. Thus I propose to emphasize a zodiac / birth chart for the inhabitants of Illunum.
- In Illunum there are a set of five constellations that can always be seen in the sky no matter day or night. These five constellations will represent the different colors of magic (RWUBG) and are in the form of dragons that will come alive by the end of the set in order to save the plane from whatever is destroying it.
- While these constellations can be seen no matter day or night, only one out of the five constellations light up only depending the time of day.
For instance:
Red Dragon = Dawn
White Dragon = Morning
Green Dragon = Afternoon
Blue Dragon = Dusk
Black Dragon = Night
Depending on the time of day, the appropriate constellation would shine the brightest, giving the creatures that are affiliated with that constellation more power than those who are not.
Now moving on. Just as how "enchantments matter" in Theros, I believe that we have to implement a "time and placement matters" in Illunum since Illunum revolves around the relationship between the movements of celestial bodies (aka time) and the inhabitant's prowess.
Mechanically, this could translate into having the ability to do something during different phases.
Major defining problem with the plane of Illunum is the Power inbalance. -> Day People are strongest during the Day and lose their bolster as the sun sets. Moon people vice versa. Stating this just in case it wasn't clear because it is actually really important.
Super duper vague that still needs to be fleshed out but hey its an idea....
Plot #1:
Plane is dying. Night tries to get help from Day. Miscommunication happens. Night and Day wage war. Dragons come out to solve things.
Plot #2:
Someone from Day wants to make the Day never set so that the Day people can always remain in power and the Night people useless. Night wages war against Day but Day really has no idea about this plan from this one guy. Dragons come out to solve things.
